ITC finds against Chinese steel wire hangers, gets request on PC products

The U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) recently made a determination on claims about steel wire garment hangers from China and received a request for an investigation into certain PC strand products. The ITC determined that certain steel wire garment hangers from China "are being imported into the U.S. in such increased quantities or under such conditions as to cause market disruption to the domestic producers of like or directly competitive products" The body has proposed that such imports be subject to an additional duty of 25 percent in the first year, 20 percent in the second year and 15 percent in the third year of relief. It will be up to U.S. President Bush to make any final decision concerning whether to provide relief to the industry and the type and duration of any such relief an ITC press release said.
