摘要

Universal adoption of A.C. drive systems in every walks of life is an un-debated issue, in the present day industrial atmosphere. Users are more conscious about the health parameters in the long run, sometimes, than the manufacturer of the equipments,regarding the technical parameters, maintenance schedule and spare parts etc. Whether it is a power plant or industries or any other place, the electric motors play a vital role in the trouble-free running. The main advantages of using A C electric motors stems from the fact that they are simple, rugged and the are immune to hazardous area (if the equipment is given proper degree of protection). The failure of motors will cause disastrous results, such as damage to the equipment, consequent damage to the line of products in a big industry and, what is more important, is that the sacrifice of customers' good-will. It is important, therefore, that the plant operator should control outages to minimum by instituting a comprehensive schedule of preventivemaintenance / predictive maintenance
