TREND SETTING BENCH MARKING EXPERIENCE - CHAMERA HYDROELECTRIC PROJECT, STAGE-II (300 MW)

National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) has today become the single largest organization for hydro power development in India, with capabilities to undertake all the activities from conceptualisation to commissioning in setting up hydro projects. NHPC is a Public Limited Company wholly owned by Government of India authorized with Share Capital of Rs. 15,000 Crores and is amongst the Top ten companies in country in terms of investment, further holding ISO 9001 for its quality systems. NHPC has9 operating Power Stations with total capacity of 2375 MW and capacity addition in 10th plan (2002-2007) planned for 4357 MW and 16004 MW in 11th plan (2007-2012). Projects totalling 3020 MW are to be developed through Joint Venture Schemes. Projects of22745 MW are presently under survey and investigation stage. 3 projects (including 2 in Bhutan and Nepal) have been commissioned and 2 are under construction on turnkey/deposit job basis. Investigation, Design and Engineering, Construction including for underground works, Research & Development, Environment Protection are NHPC's forte with Consultancy Services acting as business window.
