SCIENTISTS have paid much attention to sex control of animals, Sex control of shrimp is a noticeable topic in the field of high technology in aquaculture. Increasing the proportion of female shrimps in a rearing population is undoubtedly a very effective path to obtain higher aquacul-tural production of Penaeus chinensis. But up to date, the mechanism of sex differentiation and determination in shrimp is not clear. In recent years, we have done some work on androgenic gland.
