摘要

THE metastable CO(a~3II) molecule is known to be an important energy carrier, Its energy transfer reactions have been greatly interesting the dynamics workers. Previous studies of the energy transfer reactions between CO(a~3 II) and NO(X~3II_i) were mainly made in flow systems. The state-to-state process in the energy transfer between them were seldom studied. Yu et al. investigated the reaction of CO(a~3II) with NO(X~3II_i) under the condition of beam gas. Recently, we have improved the experimentaltechniques, prepared two beam sources CO(a~3II, v'<=4) and CO(a~3II, v'<=3) in a beam-gas experiment by collision of CO_2 with He(2~3S) and Ar(~3P_(0.2)) respectively, and investigated the effect of the vibrational distribution of CO (a~3 II ) on that of the product NO (A~2 ∑~+) from reaction CO ( a~3 II ) + NO(X~2II_i). The theoretical analysis shows that the energy transfer between CO (a~3 II) and NO(X~2II_i) follows the energy gap law and the Franck-Condon (F-C) principle.
