Effects of high temperature treatment at initial stage of anther culture on culture responses in wheat

CULTURE temperature is an important factor in anther culture. In our laboratory we have made intensive studies on this problem, and found that the responses of anther culture to culture temperature were not only sensitive but also complicated, and varied with genotypes and even with growth conditions of anther-donor plants. Studies on the influences of short high temperature treatment at the initial stage of wheat anther culture have also been carried out in our laboratory and other laboratories. However, in these studies, either the basic culture temperature (also the control temperature) was too low (25 or 26°C), or the high temperatures tested were not high enough (below 33°C ). So, recently further studies in this aspect were conducted in ourlaboratory, and some new and interesting results were obtained.
