The eyes of the world were focused on London during the evening of 27 July 2012 as millions of people worldwide watched a four-hour spectacular show designed by Danny Boyle to represent the culture of the UK. However, as viewers watched a repeat of Michael Fish's famous 1987 'Great Storm' broadcast, most were probably unaware of another interesting story concerning the weather of the evening when the ceremony took place.
