SINCE water emitting in oil wells is a general problem in developing oil fields, the workers in the world put quite an emphasis on water shutoff. In recent years, the study on developing a novel and highly effective water plugging agent has become animportant technical measure for controlling water emitting in the middle and later periods of an oil field. A highly effective water plugging agent can form gel, gradually swell in water and shut off water, but oil can get through. It also has suitable resistance to pressure and high temperature and a long service life. Only when the water shutoff agent can form a composite polymer network (CPN) structure, can it satisfy these requirements in properties. Thus, polyacrylamide (PAM) emulsion, modified amino resin with phenol and modified polyurethane together with inorganic fillers (bentonite, CaCO_3, cement, etc.) added with Na_2Cr_2O_7 and formaldehyde as the acid crosslinking agent were used. Therefore, the CPN is formed (PAM/M(UR-PU), CPN). In this note, the formation of CPN, its properties of gelatin, compressive resistance and heat-resisting property are studied.
