Honda's new and improved CR-V takes on the 4WD SUV offerings from Kia, Mazda and Volkswagen. MANY SUV BUYERS are more interested in style and space than off-road ability. The original Honda CR-V was one of the first SUVs designed specifically to cater for these needs, with practicality and four-wheel-drive security, but didn't disguise the fact it was designed for the suburbs rather than the Sahara. The new CR-V sticks closely to that formula, while promising lower running costs and superior comfort and refinement. Mazda's CX-5 offers a family-friendly interior and clever fuel-saving technologies. The Kia Sportage and VW Tiguan are both smaller, but the Sportage has price on its side and the Tiguan agility.
