Pig producer John Godfrey is keen that pig-keepers should be able to incinerate used catheters and baler twine instead of having to pay to have them collected when Europe's new waste rules are introduced early next year. He is particularly concerned about biosecurity issues surrounding used catheters and has made the point strongly to environment minister Elliot Morley that incineration in a Defra type-approved incinerator is the safest, most sensible solution.
