Jan Bouwer, a farmer in Holland with 440 Topigs sows is selling a genuine 33 pigs per sow at 25 kilos with only himself and one man for 20 hours a week. I have great problems getting my head around such figures when either nurse sows or artificial rearing are used. With an on-going average of 15.5 born alive, something needed to be done to ensure as many piglets as possible have a chance at survival.
