In the example he uses here, some drinkers were less frugal than others, not because they were dripping, but because the pigs dribbledwhen they drank from them. You don't want that wasted water in your slurry, he says. Measuring water intake is good, and tells us a lot about the inner workings of the pig, but one of the commonest questions I get asked is 'Well, how much should they drink, then?'
