The vast majority of United Kingdom pig producers and nutritionists like to see fishmeal in their rations. Over the years we have become accustomed to using fish-meal, particularly in creep, grower and, for some, lactating feeds. Fishmeal has commanded a premium, and has been 'forced' into feeds beyond its known nutrient content. Or put another way, most nutritionists accepted that fishmeal contained unidentified growth factors (UGFs).
