Personal Protective Equipment Sound reasoning and justification

PPE or personnel protective equipment has evolved over the years in order to safeguard workers from known workplace hazards as well as to identify new hazards - and everything else in between. While considered by some workers and contractors to be the bane of our industry, we must remember that its use is in the best interest of all concerned. While the current "hot button" issue is the required use of FRC, we can go back a few years to when that button was the required use of safety glasses or fall protection or non-metallic hard hats or personal H2S gas monitors. Each time, employers initially had to require the use of each of these items and then start paying for them. There were all kinds of reasons or excuses as to why they were not necessary or too expensive to provide.
