Another similarity: both groups of professionals are transporting petroleum products or crude oil all around the country. Truck traffic is everywhere. No use beating around the bush, without truck transport the USA is dead in the water. Most of it is powered by sweet diesel fuel, ultra low sulfur. Likewise, certain types of rail freight have increased considerably during the past 10 years because of new shale drilling around the American oilpatch. Heavy cargoes of frac sand, tubular goods and other materials are being sent into shale areas via railroad lines. Outward, sometimes high volumes of crude oil follow. All aboard!
