Why is making a regular profit from pig production so difficult these days? Most producers would cite (in this order) supermarkets, increased competition from the continent, and Brussels red tape. They would further say these factors were responsiblefor smaller producers quitting the industry, and for increased intensification among the remaining larger producers. However the bureaucrat's perception of what has happened in the pig industry over the past decade is quite different.
