Development of 950 MPa class High Strength Steel for Penstock

摘要

Nippon Steel has developed 950 MPa class high strength steel for Penstock, which achieves high strength and excellent toughness simultaneously from the surface to the center. The steel is endowed with effective fine grain size at each position through its thickness by controlling the grain size and microstructure. This developed steel is manufactured by the TMCP process that consists of controlled rolling, direct quenching and tempering.
