A case of massive delayed acute subdural hematoma

Subdural hematoma is one of the leading causes of brain insult after traumatic head injury. It is usually assumed that intracranial hematomas reach their maximum size within minutes to hours after the trauma. Proven delayed traumatic subdural hematomas after a negative computed tomography (CT) scan of the brain have been rarely reported, and their pathophysiology is not clearly understood. We report a new case of delayed acute subdural hematoma in a young adult 24 h after polytrauma.
