Based on a suitable inventory method, this study is carried out to collect and analyse information on the flora, the vegetation and on the woody potential of Patako Protected Forest. The aim of the study is to identify the vocation and make suggestions for a sustainable use of the forest resources. Data have been collected based on a random sampling method after a stratification of the vegetation cover. Spatial image data of LANDSAT-ETM was used to characterize and organise the structural components of the vegetation cover base map of the study area. The vegetation map revealed two main strata clearly discriminated. The analysis shows information on the flora composition of woody plants, the characteristics of the vegetation, the structure of tree populations and the potential of most economically extracted species. Four (4) among the 73 species listed have a good structure and dynamics. The assessment of the stock of extracted species shows a good potential for wood fuel, a relatively low potential for wood products and a low potential for non woody products.
