Modern history of Lake Boroe based on the results of diatom analysis

Diatom community from Upper Holocene sediments of Lake Boroe (the Valdai Hills) was analyzed with the aim to test a new methodological strategy for obtaining additional data on the development history of lakes. The species composition of diatom complexes was examined with allowance made for the indication significance of each taxon. Variations in the numerical values of the parameters of the aquatic environment are reconstructed, including temperature, saprobity index, pH. The calculation and reconstruction of those parameters were carried out by using a unified procedure for the optimization of their comparison.
