Following the EU Pesticide Reviews, prochloraz will become an endangered species - the only fungicide left approved for use on mushrooms. Helen Grogan of HRI reports on research into ways of prolonging its useful life. As the EU review of approved pesticides for use in horticulture proceeds, it is becoming crystal clear that there will be fewer chemicals approved for use in the sector in years to come. In mushrooms, the number of approved fungicides is dropping year on year, with actives like chlorothalonil (Bravo), benomyl (Benlate) and pyrifenox (Dorado) already no longer available for use on mushrooms.
