We had been looking to fill a position in the woodshed/production department. The Job Centre applicants were the normal no-hopers, apart from one. He dressed relatively smart, he was OK in the interviews, so we said start tomorrow, (as you do when you're desperate). The following day he turned up -- usually a good sign. It was lashing with rain, so we had bought him the boots, fluorescent jacket, water proofs etc. He worked the day, put all of his, (our), new gear into his car, drove off and hasn'tbeen seen since! I'll send Ian round! After all the Job Centre applicants had been, or had not bothered turning up, we placed an advert in the local paper, (300.00 pound - a half page advert in the Daily Mirror only costs 800 pound!) We had a very good response from this, many interested people 'phoned up to arrange interviews, so much so, we put a cap on the amount we were going to see, three a day for five days. Not once did all three turn up, on some days, none bothered!
