I would like to open by expressing my gratitude to Stephen Peele for giving me the opportunity to work with this rare find, obtained from a field in Florida over twenty years ago. It was indeed an honor to be the one selected to receive these twenty-year-old spores, but at the same time due to the fact that it was publicly announced in the online mushroom community, there was an overwhelming desire on my part to succeed, seeing as so many eyes were focused on the project. That self-inflicted pressureto avoid failure at all costs is ultimately what led to the limited success that is represented by the spore sample that has been included in this issue. I say limited because we were unable to get the spores to germinate in the normal manner, so what you are receiving is a cross between the original Red Spore Cubensis and a strain of the same species originating from Puerto Rico.
