An evaluation of the reclassif ication of ophthalmic chloramphenicol for the management of acute bacterial conjunctivitis in community pharmacies in Western Australia

Over the last decade, several medicines previously available as 'Prescription only' medicines (Schedule 4 (S4)) have been reclassified as a 'Pharmacist only medicine' (Schedule 3 (S3)) and have hence become available over-the-counter (OTC) to the general public. Schedule 3 items in Australia (including Western Australia (WA)) must be provided by a pharmacist or under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
