We have shown previously that regression techniques can be used to predict hospital pharmacy workforce.However, the selected variables were indicators of service activity, rather than necessarily reflecting the quality of pharmaceutical services. To improve these predictive empirical models for workforce planning, quality indicators need to be included. The Department of Health Medicines Management Framework captures data that identifies whether or not hospitals are providing services consistent with the aspirations outlined in 'Spoonful of sugar'.Our work focuses on a quantitative determination of the extent to which these quality standards are being achieved, and how these data may be used for workforce planning and prediction.
