One hundred years of Nile dams at Aswan

The consequences of the Aswan Dams, most of which were known before construction, have been the subject of controversial discussion for several decades. Today, 100 years after the reservoir of the Old Aswan Dam was first flooded and 30 years after the filling of the Nasser Lake, the most serious after-effects have been managed or eliminated. Most important for the Egyptian people is the three-fold increase in crop yields, which is only rendered possible by the Aswan Dam, so that its construction today is considered to be mostly positive.
