IT'S THAT TIME of year again. Yet another GTI International rolls around and, yet again, I won't be there. Well, I guess that's just the price I have to pay for leading such з fabulous, international life (ahem). So, while you are all [hopefully] enjoying a weekend with more sunshine than showers, I thought I would honour your efforts and bring you another peek into GTI life US-style. For Americans, GTI history is a great deal shorter than for Europeans. While the hot hatch revolution began in 1976 in the old world, the new world had to wait until 1982 [detail junkies please note that, although sales began in late 1982 it was referred to as the 1983 model year].
