THE EOS, Volkswagen's new coupe/ cabriolet has certainly caught the public's imagination. So much so that you won't have much joy if you want to buy one, as the first tranche of cars has already been snapped up. When we first drove the Eos in Greece, a variety of engines were available, but the first cars to arrive here were all powered by the 2.0 T-FSI engine, the 200 PS turbocharged 2.0-litre unit which has been so successful in the Golf GTI. It is a great engine, well suited to the Eos, but the 1.6 FSI, 2.0 FSI, 2.0 TDl and 3.2 V6 are all scheduled for the UK market. A 6-ratio manual gearbox is the standard transmission, while DSG is an option for the 2.0 TDl and 2.0 T-FSI, and standard on the 3.2.
