Perceptual modes, semiotic codes, social mores: a contribution towards a social semiotics of drawing

This article proposes a systemic-functional semiotic model for the domain of drawing. It is argued that such a model, based upon a synthesis of relevant visual perception theory and visual communication theory, can empower the practice of drawing.
