The relations between various formulas containing electrical property derivatives are examined in detail to help understand different forms of intermolecular vibrational interactions in a consistent way. By using the derivative relations among potential energy, dipole moment and polarizability, it is suggested that the formula for the dipole-induced-dipole (DID) mechanism should be extended to include an additional term, which may be called " [mubeta] term". The effect of this [mubeta] term in the extended dipole-induced-dipole (XDID) mechanism is discussed by taking the case of the low-frequency Raman spectral profile of liquid formamide as an example.
