MASSEY FERGUSON 1505 RESTORATION

Cornishman, William Brent, is from a farming family, his father buying his first tractor, a Fordson in 1940. When William's son Robert became interested in early tractors a number of Marshalls were bought and paraded at shows and eventually these were joined by a threshing drum, a McCormick binder and a Caterpillar D4 D. With the farm now passed over to Robert, William continued to work at his haulage business and hankered after a large tractor. His ideal would be to purchase a MF 1805 but in almost five years of searching he was only able to locate a very poor example in Canada and its condition and the cost of bringing it to the UK ruled it out, even placing advertisements in tractor magazines failed to locate one in the UK. He did however manage to locate a 1505 at a dealers in Suffolk and drove up just after Christmas 2008 to inspect the tractor, a 1975 example, first registered in 1976, which although running required attention to the brakes.
