Imaging diagnosis--acquired goitrous hypothyroidism following treatment with trimethoprim sulfamethoxazole.

A female Bloodhound was evaluated at 3 months of age for a left pelvic limb weakness/lameness. The dog was initially treated with corticosteroids, but infection with Neospora spp. was subsequently documented. The dog was then treated with carprofen and trimethoprim sulfamethoxazole for 4 weeks. Two weeks later, the dog appeared weaker. Treatment was changed to clindamycin, trimethoprim sulfamethoxazole, and pyrimethamine for another 6 months.
