Imaging diagnosis - CT angiography of a rare vascular ring anomaly in a dog.

A one-year-old male Labrador Retriever was presented with a history of regurgitation and vomiting [place and date not given]. The dog's physical condition was normal, as were routine biochemistry and haematologic values. Thoracic radiographs showed that the oesophagus was mildly dilated cranially. Using fluoroscopic oesophagography, the transit time of liquid barium and barium impregnated dry food was prolonged cranial to the level of the fourth intercoastal space. Focal indentation of the dorsal oesophageal lumen, resulting in a moderate narrowing, was identified at the level of the third intercoastal space. Computed tomography confirmed the right-sided position of the aortic arch. A final diagnosis of right-sided aortic arch and ligamentum arteriosum, without the presence of a left ligamentum arteriosum or patent ductus arteriosus, was made. The surgical treatment of the condition is also presented.
