Harmonic oscillations caused by speed-control-led auxiliary power drives and demands to be met by voltage quality

A multitude of harmonic oscillation generators are encountered in auxiliary networks of power plants, a great share having the speed-controlled drives. From their capacity, it is to be expected that feed pump drives make a major contribution to harmonic oscillations in the auxiliary network. Measured harmonic oscillations in power plants are shown on the basis of examples, their reasons and possibilities for taking an influence are discussed. Measured values are compared with approximate calculation results and with the interference levels of electronic installations laid down in the standards and the permissible compatibility levels of electrical networks as well as operating experience.
