German power plants: a market potential for the plant construction sector?

In the next few years, service will represent the major priority for plant construction companies active in the electricity industry since due to excess capacities of existing power plants a trend towards decreasing investments in the electricity generating sector can be assumed. However, this will change in the medium term. Proceeding from the assumption that existing electricity generating plants will be operated for at least 200,000 full-load hours, a perceptibly increasing demand for power plant capacity can only be assumed after the year 2004. If the power plants are operated for considerably more than 200,000 full-load hours, the need for investment will be delayed by several years. In the extreme case, the first wave of extension for the German power plants will be delayed by seven years.
