Guide prevents cylinder slippage

Pneumatics specialist Festo has produced a new range of actuators featuring integrated guides which prevent rotation of the cylinder when its is subjected to torque loads. In addition, the normal deflections caused by lateral loads are much reduced by the guides.The cylinders' double-action means they can carry loads on both the forward and reverse piston stroke. Cylinder pistons are inscribed with longitudinal keyway slots that mesh with recirculating ball bearings to produce a "super-smooth operation and minimal stiction," according to Festo's Steve Sands.
