Spontaneous perirenal hematoma due to multiple renal artery aneurysms in a patient with presumed polyarteritis nodosa

Polyarteritis nodosa (PAN) is a systemic necrotizing vasculitisthat involves the renal and visceral arteries.1 PAN typicallypresents with systemic symptoms and signs such asfatigue, weight loss, weakness, fever, arthralgia, skin lesions,hypertension, renal insufficiency, neurologic dysfunctionand abdominal pain.2 Despite the common involvement ofthe kidney, spontaneous perirenal hemorrhage from a renalvasculitic aneurysm is a rare complication.
