The yield and mineral content of tomato (cv. Cunero F1) grown on rockwool, peat or sand, and fertigated with nutrient solution 1 or 2 (contained higher amounts of macro- and micronutrients than solution 1 by 25%) were studied under greenhouse conditions. The fruit yield of plants grown on rockwool, peat and sand fertigated with nutrient solution 1 did not significantly vary. Nutrient solution 2 significantly reduced the fruit yields of plants grown on peat and sand. The fruit yield of plants on rockwool was not significantly affected by the type of nutrient solution. Fruit yield was generally higher in plants grown on sand than on other substrates. Sand had lower N, P, K, Ca and Mg levels than rockwool and peat. However, the leaf nutrient content did not significantly vary among the growing media.
