The evaluation of head cabbage (Brassica oleracea L. var. capitata L.) F_1 hybrids derived by the use of DH lines

Four double haploid (DH) lines of R_2 generation of head cabbage cultivar 'Kamienna Glowa', their single and double F_1 hybrids were evaluated according to head mass, head shape and internal stump length / head height coefficient. It was found that head mass of single and double F_1 hybrids showed heterosis in comparison to their parental DH lines. There were no significant differences between single and double F_1 hybrids according to investigated traits. The range of variation of head shape and internal stump length / head height coefficient of DH lines was higher than of their F_1 hybrids.
