Orbital Welding Tube Line Application in Food and Beverage Industry

Although orbital welding has been around form more than two decades, its use has historically been limited to speciality and niche applications. Food and beverage industry trends - towards higher quality and greater operational efficiency - have driven the use of automated welding to meet shorter construction times, faster cleaning cycles, and increased up-time requirements for process tubing systems. Barnum Mechanical, USA, led a team that applied orbital arc welding gear, from Astro Arc Polysoude, to a major expansion project at the showcase Sierra Nevada brewery in California. The company's 30-member construction crew performed thousands of welds to install several miles of tube at the brewery, and faced a number of problems and challenges.
