Calculations show that damage from atmospheric pollution is approximately 10 times greater than from water pollution [1]. One reason for delays in creating ecologically pure flowsheets in the titanium-magnesium industry is the absence of or inadequate data on dust-gas emission [2-4]. This paper looks into gas-dust emissions occurring under industrial conditions during induction melting of magnesium pigs and biquetted ML5 magnesium-alloy chips in an IPM-500 furnace, which uses a suction system which includes suction from smelting furnaces, from units of molten-metal discharge to distribution crucibles, and from furnaces to preheating the crucible. The suction system was equipped with VD-1 3.5 fans.
