In order to create effective flowsheets for production of nickel and copper a detailed study has to be made into the nature of the phase transformations and interactions at various processing stages. In order to simplify separating the sulfides of these elements, following converting, research was conducted into the potential of heat treating nickel concentrate. The structural diagram of the Ni-S system was considered earlier [1-3]. M. A. Sokolov [1, 2] showed that quenching alloys in this system, with 30-50 percent sulfur contents, from 600 deg C, in mixtures of carbon anhydride with kerosene does, not maintain the p-phase on a base of Ni_(3+-x)S_2. D. M. Chizhikov [4] - in examining nickel alloys with varying compositions - produced somewhat different values in their physical properties, as well as in the character of their relationship to the temperature and composition of the alloy. In view of the fact that these differences could be related to the heat treatment characteristics, this problem was given particular attention in research by other authors as well [5, 6].
