METROLOGICAL CONTROL OVER GRINDING PRODUCT SIZES IN A CONCENTRATION PLANT

Because mining-concentration enterprises are more widely equipped with both native and imported industrial granulometers their metrology takes on greater importance. It is well known that even small deviations in the yield of a fine controlled size class will lead to great changes in the extraction of useful components to concentrates. Reliable determination of these deviations under industrial conditions, taking into consideration the various influencing factors, is a complex metrological task. It should be noted that with respect to the quantitative evaluation of particle size gauges there is no unanimity of opinion by granulometric analysis specialists nor by developers of appropriate apparatus. This lack of methodological uniformity not only makes it impossible to compare various developments but also does great harm because expensive imported apparatus are purchased which turn out to be inefficient because of their poor metrological characteristics.
