In the production of aluminum strips and foil for technical purposes and packaging, broad use is made of a variety of aluminum grades which - according to GOST 11069-74 - are classified as one type of material: technically pure aluminum. The basic impurity components are iron and silicon, the total concentration of which can reach 1 percent for a number of brands meeting domestic and foreign standards. In this connection, it would be more correct to also consider such materials as alloys in the aluminum-iron-silicon system which, for example, are used in many foreign standards and in the technical literature. The available data on the effect of iron and silicon on the structure and properties of semimanufactures from technically-pure aluminum are very limited and contradictory [1-11]. Moreover, they refer primarily to the effect of these impurities in special aluminum alloys. At the same time, it is very important to know these characteristics to predict and regulate the structure and properties of semimanufactures from alloys in other aluminum-iron-silicon systems, to select optimum chemical compositions and processing parameters in relation to the specific purpose of the material which would be rational from the point of view of technico-economic indices for its use in some specific goals, etc.
