Health protection, improving working conditions and medical aid for workers in the basic divisions of the national economy are the most vital matters facing those organs and institutions dealing with health protection. Health is overwhelmingly connected with working and living conditions, prosperity and life style. And although health conditions for workers and environmental conditions are only part of a complex of measures aimed at reducing illness - particularly in the metallurgical industry - they are extremely important. This is related to the fact that workers in metallurgical enterprises are subject to a wide complex of harmful factors in production, leading to significant physical and nervous-emotional stress. The ferrous and non-ferrous metallurgy sectors have 201 medical health stations of which 152 (75.6 percent) have hospitals with a total number of 44,426 beds.
