Endoscopy is a minimally invasive procedure that can be mainly subdivided in veterinary medicine into rhinoscopy, otoendoscopy, bronchoscopy, gastrointestinal endoscopy, urethrocystoscopy, thoracoscopy, laparoscopy and arthroscopy. Furthermore, endoscopic surgery can be performed through the same portal. Using electronic wiring (videoscopes) instead of fibreoptic glass (fibrescopes) the image quality has improved exponentially compared to the scopes used by the pioneers of endoscopy Kurt Semm and Karl Storz.
