SAN ANTONIO — Remember that you are the veterinarian, Chip Johnson, DVM, told attendees at the American Association of Equine Practitioners annual meeting held here, while discussing a recent equine herpesvirus (EHV) outbreak at Monmouth Park Racewayin New Jersey. "On or about Oct. 12-13, we received two horses from a reputable breeding facility in Canada. They were healthy when they arrived," he said. Shortly after their arrival, however, one of the horses had a temperature response and was treated for routine shipping fever with antiinflammatories and antibiotics for four or five days, he explained.
