Pipeline basics - Part 6: Prover systems

Continuing Gobind Khiani's series of articles on pipeline basics, this month looks at prover systems. Liquid pipeline provers are used in industry to trace the volume of flow, in other words 'Know Traceable Volume' (KTV) which is used to verify and establish a meter factor during actual flowing and operating conditions required to be traceable to NIST. The International School of Hydrocarbon Measurements USA or Canadian School of Hydrocarbon Measurement in Canada are known societies which discuss codes and regulations on measurement instrumentation and associated valves.
