Wisconsin Public Service Corp. (WPSC, www.wisconsinpublic-service.com), recently deployed a performance improvement software solution on equipment at the De Pere Energy Center (DEC) power plant, located near Green Bay, Wisconsin (Figure 2). Shortly after installing the software, WPSC received early warning of several emerging equipment problems. With these warnings, WPSC was able to prevent power de-rates and increase turbine efficiency. Operators also hope to avoid unplanned outages, shorten durations of planned outages, and reduce associated costs, such as part-procurement expenses.
