Pollen sources effects on seed formation and fruit characteristics in Thai durians.

摘要

The effect of reciprocal pollination among 4 durian cultivars on the fruit characteristics was studied. The pollen source affected seed formation but not the proportion of normal and aborted seeds. Although both seed number and weight were positively correlated to fruit size, the seed weight showed a higher correlation coefficient than the seed number. The fruit characteristics were not significantly affected by pollen sources with some exceptions. However, the common trend in all 4 cultivars was that the self-pollinated fruits were smaller with malformed shape, compared to the cross-pollinated ones.
